Mrs. Megan Catchings, the instructor of both AP and Honors Biology, has taught at Columbus High School (CHS) for 11 years. She has been an essential part of the CHS community and beyond; not only taking part in many extracurricular CHS-connected sports events but also as an Environmentalist before deciding to share her knowledge and experiences as a teacher.
Mrs. Catchings acknowledged, “I became a teacher mainly because of my love and passion for science, not only in the classroom but outside as well.”
Sarah Fefer, a senior at CHS, stated, “Mrs. Catchings is really a great teacher. She made AP Biology an immersive and enjoyable class for me and has also driven me to further my own passion for biology and life sciences.”
When asked about what she seeks to contribute to the CHS community, Mrs. Catchings stated, “The idea that every day is always filled with different things is really integral to biology, and I really want to pass on what I’ve learned to others. Also, I would love to really organize events to get prospective students excited for CHS and the experiences and knowledge they will gain here.”
Outside of school, Mrs. Catchings loves to hunt, fish, and spend time with her family.
