On Friday February 28, Columbus High School students celebrated Black History Month with their annual Black History Month Performance with this year's theme: Black History in Sports.
During 7th period, classes got the opportunity to see their fellow peers perform skits, dances, songs, and step and cheer routines while also learning about the influence African Americans’ had in the sports we know today.
Participants apart of the performance comments on the performance:
“I was surprised that we actually pulled it off! At the end of the day I feel like we put on a great show.” Layla Clontz (11) remarks.
Zion Daise (11) says, “It is important for people to know about the history and the significance of African Americans. We performed a great show that told them that history.”
Spectators of the show enjoyed the performance.
“I found every part of the show really interesting! It was cool to see homage to sports legends throughout the show.” says Aiden Pitman (11).
Rayvion Cokes (12) comments “I thought the show was good. I found it interesting!”
