Something that CHS never fails to do is recognize and celebrate its diversity. On Friday, February 27, 2026, CHS proudly hosted its annual Black History Program, an event dedicated to honoring Black culture, history, and excellence.

The program was filled with powerful performances that highlighted the many talents within our school community. Students showcased Black excellence through dance, vocal performances, basketball demonstrations, tennis showcases, and more. Each act reflected creativity, dedication, and pride. Behind every performance were hours of practice, preparation, and teamwork, all coming together to create a meaningful experience for both students and staff.

“I really enjoyed the hymn songs and the dances performed by the guys,” exclaimed Destynee Jones(10).

Beyond entertainment, the program served as a reminder of the lasting impact Black individuals have made, and continue to make, in areas such as sports, music, leadership, education, and culture. The atmosphere in the room was filled with energy, appreciation, and unity as the audience cheered on their peers.

“I loved having the opportunity to incorporate my talent into the program and show everyone that Black History Month is truly something exciting,” Cortavian Hatcher(10) shared.

Events like the Black History Program are important because they educate, inspire, and bring people together. They allow students to express themselves while also learning more about the contributions and achievements that have shaped our society. CHS continues to show that celebrating diversity is not just a tradition, but a priority.
