After Columbus High's historical previous season with a final record of 18-1-1. The team looks forward in anticipation to their next season. Following their previous historic year, men's soccer Coach Torres feels “Very excited for the upcoming season”.
After their stellar performance last season the team will now be in a new region as well as be included in a new classification for the season (3A).
With this newfound region placement, this now presents new opportunities and a variety of new opponents for the men's team to face.
“This obviously brings new challenges, but we are confident that we will
continue to build on the success we’ve seen in recent years.” stated Coach Torres.
With the new season approaching, this also means that the senior players from last
season such as Michael Wood, Dante Johnson, and Carlos Lopez to name a few
will not be present from now on for the future of the team.
Despite this loss of the senior players, Coach Torres feels that they still have more
to give and more to achieve for the CHS soccer team.
“Obviously, losing players is never ideal, especially when you lose players like Dante, Michael Wood, Bridger Jones and the rest of the seniors. However, we have eight starters returning, and we also have players that have been waiting for their opportunity to contribute on the field,” remarked Coach Torres. After previous major seasons which saw the team reach the third round for the first time in over a decade as well as reaching the achievement of making the Final Four, the team aims to continue to build upon their accolades.
“We are confident that we have the team to reach another milestone this upcoming season.” added Coach Torres.
