CHS Mini Dance Marathon: Fun for a Cause

Grace Johnson

On January 20th, CHS students gathered for the first annual Mini Dance Marathon. Students joined together to raise donations for the Piedmont Children’s Miracle Network.

The event consisted of games, dancing, and testimonials from those whose lives have been touched by the Children’s Miracle Network at Piedmont. With the help of fundraisers and donors, the Mini Dance Marathon raised a total of $8,027, all to be donated to the Children’s Miracle Network.

Grace Walker, a junior at CHS and the President of the Mini Dance Marathon executive board, campaigned and organized to bring the event to Columbus High. Grace was aided by fellow committee members Rachael Tillery, sophomore and Vice President of Recruitment, and Gabby Geringer, junior and Vice President of Marketing, as well as a team of morale boosters who helped to fundraise prior to the event. Moreover, a group of student outreach members and Dance Marathon volunteers from Auburn University came together with Columbus High participants to support the Children’s Miracle Network.

Rya Bell, a junior, participated in the event as a morale booster. She explained that her favorite part of the event was “being on the morale squad and getting to hype up the crowd to raise money for a good cause.”

The event was an undeniable success for a charitable cause. Mini Dance Marathon plans to continue at Columbus High for years to come.
