As the school year gets into full swing, senior projects take the stage, but Jackson McLaurin's production of Nothing Personal, Just Business is one of the more prominent ones. McLaurin himself is the director of the show, describing it as "really fun," highlighting the hands-on learning experience he has with his peers.
"It's been a very fun process, especially learning under one of your peers," says Cale Hett (11), who is an actor in the show.
McLaurin adds, "My actors are always willing to take my ideas, and I think of it as if I was in the role."
Ali Wharton (12), a first-time stage manager, adds, "It's been really fun and interesting. It has given me a completely new perspective on how theatre works."
Although the rehearsal process has had its ups and downs, including schedule changes, the cast and crew have kept a positive attitude. "The process has been pretty good! A lot of rehearsal," says Percy Ritchie (11), while Laney Flournoy (11) describes it as "kind of wacky" due to the busy time of year.
For Carolina Thompson (12) the show's modern style has been a refreshing change. "I've never done a show like this before. The cast is just really fun!" she says.
Madeline Gonzales-Jimenez (11) has enjoyed seeing the production come together. "This process has been pretty great! I liked watching everyone act and being able to be in scenes."
A mixture of creativity and collaboration, Nothing Personal, Just Business is going to be a memorable senior project-a real showcase of talent and teamwork by the cast and crew!
