The CHS Theatre Department will present 12 Angry Jurors on January 16 at 7:00 p.m. and January 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the CHS Auditorium. Admission is free with a suggested ten dollar donation to support future theatre productions.
The production was announced last school year as one of two new shows added to the 2025 to 2026 theatre season. Based on Reginald Rose’s 12 Angry Men, the play focuses on a jury tasked with deciding the fate of a defendant while confronting themes of justice and personal bias.
Students involved in the production describe the rehearsal process as welcoming and collaborative. Kobie Jones (9), who plays Juror 11 and serves as a props manager, shared that the experience has been especially positive for her as a freshman.
“The rehearsal process has been really fun,” Jones said. “Being a freshman, I was very nervous, but everyone has made me feel very welcomed and comfortable in this show.”
The cast includes students with a wide range of theatre experience. Madeline Gonzales Jimenez (12) said the mix of new performers and experienced actors has created an exciting environment.
“We have people who have never been in a show before and others who have been in every show since their freshman year,” Gonzales said. “This is a more serious and intense type of show that Columbus High does not do very often.”
With its courtroom setting and dramatic tone, 12 Angry Jurors offers audiences a different theatrical experience while highlighting the dedication of the CHS Theatre Department.
