CHS Thespians Begin Rehearsals for One-Act Play: Our Place

CHS thespians have recently begun rehearsals for their upcoming one-act play, entitled Our Place, that is expected to premiere in mid-October in the Columbus High School auditorium.

Our Place, a one-act comedy/drama written by Terry Wayne Gabbard, tells different stories of friends and families at a lakeside dock. The motivation behind each character’s visit is different, but through humor and tragedy, they all discover the true meaning of Our Place.

Throughout the play, viewers will observe how a single place (a dock) can mean different things to each character. By the end of the play, a sense of community and belonging will be felt by everyone in the audience through honest and heart-warming performances.

The cast list introduces some fresh-new faces to the CHS theater world and invites back old ones as well, including returning seniors Azia Sands, Tyler Patterson, Rosemary Gross, Maria Daza, and Carter Brinegar.

Along with 3 nights of performances, CHS thespians will also take their performance to the big stage at the Georgia High School Association Regional One-Act Competition which is expected to take place on November 12th. In past years, CHS had competed with Antigone: A Greek Tragedy (2022) and Medea: The Greek Tragedy (2021) which received 4th and 3rd place respectively.

The current cast is very enthusiastic about the upcoming play, especially current seniors who are bittersweet about their last one-act at CHS. Rosemary Gross, senior, says, “I've been waiting for my senior year one-act, and it's finally here! It’s an amazing show that reminds me of some of my favorite places.” Columbus High School Full House Production is expected to perform the dramedy on October 22nd and 24th.
