Columbus High has welcomed a new faculty member to its staff during the 2024-2025 school year.
Mrs. Rustad-Williams is the newest addition to the Columbus High science department.
This is her third year of teaching overall and her first year of teaching mixed grades in Honors Chemistry and Honors Physics at Columbus High School.
Mrs. Rustad-Williams attended school locally at Columbus State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2022.
When asked what was her favorite thing about teaching at Columbus High so far, she answered that she was the “only physics teacher at [her] old school, so it is nice to have other physics teachers to collaborate with to come up with fun labs.”
For her students this year, she hopes “they leave [her] class with an overall love [for] science.”
When she is not teaching, Mrs. Rustad-Williams reads, crochets, builds her garden, and loves to hang out with her two dogs, Max and Tucker.
She states how she has “always wanted to teach chemistry because [her] high school teacher made her love it!”
Adding on to her list of favorites, her top three movies are Wicked, The Fox and the Hound, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
