"I Could Fall in Love" with CHS's Movie Night

On Wednesday, September 28, Spanish Club will be holding a Movie Night in the CHS Cafeteria from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The club will be showing the 1997 film, Selena, a biographical drama on Selena Quintanilla.

The film tells "the true story of Selena, a Texas-born Tejano singer who rose from cult status to performing at the Astrodome, as well as having chart-topping albums on the Latin music charts" according to IMDb.

The movie night was proposed by the Hispanic Heritage Month Committee of Spanish Club, who chose Selena in order to honor the late figure.

"Her music resonated with so many people and it's so important to remember her," says committee member and junior Mili Tavera.

Other students have also expressed interest in the film.

“I’ve heard from other people that it’s a good movie,” says sophomore Richna Krishnan.

“It’s been a while since I’ve watched it, but I liked it” reveals sophomore Jaila Prier

In addition to the movie, snacks and drinks will be available to purchase on movie night.

Pre-sale tickets are $1 and are being sold in the cafeteria, while tickets at the door will be $2. All proceeds will go to Spanish Club

“[The proceeds will] keep Spanish Club’s community growing by having the opportunity to [host] more events” adds Tavera.

"Come learn about the Beyonce of Mexican-American music!" exclaims Spanish Club co-sponsor Sra. Mendez.
