New Club Inspires Students to Reach Their Career Aspirations

By Lucile Choudhury

A new club, Designing a Future, has been established at Columbus High School as an exhilarating development for students interested in exploring their future career paths.

Designing a Future is dedicated to providing students with invaluable insights into the college admissions process and future career paths. Founded by Columbus’ very own students, this club focuses on inspiring its members to determine their career goals.

Once a month, the club strives to host proactive meetings where students have the opportunity to hear from professionals in various fields. These sessions will be led by current university students and experienced adults who will share insight on their journeys and challenges, and offer advice on how to overcome difficulties. This allows the students to create a network of support and encouragement across different demographics.

Co-founders Amoolya Kollaram (11) and Eliana King (11) are excited to commence their first meeting with advisors, soon.

"We have an APA board-certified counselor coming in next month to speak to students about her experience as a psychologist,” Kollaram enthusiastically states. Insights from this counselor will prove to be inspiring for members with a real-world lens on the field of psychology.

Meetings will be held every once a month on either Mondays or Wednesdays after school in Mr. Murphy’s room (202), with all scheduling communicated over Remind. Designing a Future welcomes students from all grades and career aspirations to pursue their dreams.

Kollaram hopes to “inspire students to strive for the best in the future and make the most optimal goals for their career.” As this new club continues to grow, both founders are committed to expanding their impact and encouraging students to strive for academic excellence. The hope is to create a thought-provoking environment where students can work cohesively to take hold of their future.

For students looking to explore their full potential, this club will prove to be extremely beneficial! Whether you are just starting to plan your future goals, or are already planning your career path, this club strives to guide you every step of the way.
