The Columbus High School Dance Team is searching for new members!
There are a multitude of new clubs this school year, and one of them is the Columbus High School Dance Team.
Danikah Harris (12), a senior here at CHS, started a dance team after discovering that the school didn’t have one.
“I did dance for about 10 years, and then, I had a hip injury, and I couldn’t dance competitively anymore. So I had to take a break, and after healing and finding my love for dance again, I decided I wanted to spread it, and I realized that CHS didn’t have anything. So I started it here as a way to get people involved” states Harris, captain of CHS Dance Team.
Current member of the CHS Dance Team, Taliyah Powell (11) states, “I wanted to join the dance team because I danced since I was little, and after COVID hit, I wasn't able to go back in the studio. So when I found it was offered at Columbus, I thought it would be neat to try it”.
Ella Symonds (9) exclaims “I’m just trying out new things, and I want a well-rounded college application. I am excited to learn some new stuff!”
“I wanted to join Dance Team because I love dancing, and I never had the opportunity to join a real dance team growing up, so I wanted to have that opportunity” states Madeline Gonzales Jimenez (11). “Please join Dance Team and try anything even if you think you’re not good at it!”
Harris teases at some fun events and opportunities CHS Dance Team will be participating in this 2024-25 school year.
“We are going to have a fundraiser coming up at some point to raise money for our uniforms. And hopefully we're going to be performing at stuff like the Talent Show, the musical, and just events around the school” Harris states. “Join dance team! It's really fun and we’re gonna have a blast!”
