New Experiences: Columbus High Hosts its First Sadie Hawkins Dance

Jaila Prier

For the first time ever this February, Columbus High School will be hosting a Sadie Hawkins Dance.

The Sadie Hawkins dance is an event where instead of guys asking their dates to go to the dance, it is the opposite, where girls ask their dates out to the dance.

Columbus High’s Sadies Dance will be held February 24, 2024 from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. in the school Gymnasium.

The theme of the dance is Denim and Diamonds. Students can come dressed in casual, country, or fancy clothing similar to that of a homecoming dance attire.

Tickets are currently on sale for 5 dollars on GoFan.

Similar to other dances at Columbus High, dates from other schools are allowed, and if bringing a date from another school, a date permission form must be obtained from the attendance office, filled out, and turned in for approval from administration.

Every Columbus High student is encouraged to come, and a date is not required to go.

One helper of the dance preparations, Ayanna Walker (12), states that she thinks “[the dance] is going to be good,” and that “all of the people helping plan were giving super good ideas!”

She also hopes that “everyone has fun at the dance!”
