Senior Spotlight: Celebrating CHS Volleyball Players

By: Lucile Choudhury

As the 2024 CHS volleyball season continues with great success, The Blue Streak would like to take a moment to spotlight the outstanding seniors on the team: Kelci Hudson, Sam Majors, Andi Majors, Audrey Burgamy, and Anabelle Mullen. After four years of dedication and hard work, these athletes have made a lasting impact both on and off the court. Below, they share insights into how their four years on the CHS volleyball team have shaped their experiences.

Kelci Hudson began playing volleyball because it offered her a sense of community when all of her friends started joining. Team bonding, such as post-game dinners, filled her life with laughter and joyful memories that she will cherish forever.

“Being a part of the volleyball team, to me, means having an extra family of girls who can help me forget all the hardships in life and school,” Hudson affirms.

Along with a strong sense of community, she states that the volleyball team provided her with newfound opportunities, such as the fall sports recognition program.

Sam Majors, also a member of the CHS volleyball team for all four years of high school, was inspired to play volleyball by her mom and CHS’s top-tier volleyball program.

Majors takes pride in being part of such a loving and dedicated community as she reflects joyously on the constant hard work and dedication shared by the whole team.

“This team has given me the best memories of high school and something to look forward to after school,” Majors mentions.

Both on and off the court, CHS volleyball creates a community of inspiring young women. Majors states that her favorite memory was when her team gathered to watch the movie Miracle Season- a moment she will cherish for the rest of her life.

Andi Majors, too, was inspired by her mom to join the CHS volleyball team.

After beginning her journey on this team, she reflects on how it has created friendships and a sense of community for her, both of which have immensely boosted her confidence.

“Being a part of the volleyball team means being part of a family. I can rely on my teammates to help me on and off the court,” Majors asserts.

She also enjoys off-court memories that allow for team-building. By watching movies and conversing over dinner, Majors emphasizes that they are not just teammates but also close friends.

Audrey Burgamy was interested to join the team due to her previous “love for the sport” and her desire to create lasting friendships and support systems.

Burgamy’s favorite memory was from her “entire junior season”, specifically a movie night with her teammates where they shared laughter and tears for ours- an unforgettable bonding experience.

Anabelle Mullen entered high school eager to explore new sports, but volleyball instantly captured her heart. She particularly enjoyed the freedom that volleyball allowed to try new positions.

Her favorite memory is attending college camps with Division 1 athletes. This allowed her to spend three days sharpening her skills. Along with playing, she was also allowed to create friendships with teammates she never expected to bond with.

As the volleyball seniors wrap up their final season, it is very clear that they have formed lasting bonds and unforgettable memories. Kelci, Sam, Andi, Audrey, and Anabelle have not only excelled on the court, but they have also joined a supportive community that will continue to impact them after graduation. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for these talented athletes!
