Win Some, Lose None: Flag Football Remains Undefeated

The Columbus High Flag Football team makes a vigorous return for the 2021-2022 season, going 2-0.


In 2019, Columbus High students were first introduced to flag football, not knowing what to expect throughout the first season.


The team put up a good fight and went on to win the state championships at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.


“Winning state was honestly one of the best nights ever,” remarked Abby Tillery, “and knowing that we had our whole school there to support us made it so much more memorable.”



They were looking forward to another great season in 2020, only to come to the realization that it would be cut short. The girls were forced to forfeit due to the rise in COVID cases and quarantine protocols.


Many girls on the team state that they are hoping to redeem their State Championship title this season.


The team played on October 19 against Central and went 20-0 and 41-0 against Jordan on the 26th of October.


Quarterback, Abby Tillery, begins the flag football season with 8 total touchdowns, 159 rushing yards, and 169 passing yards.


Defense MVP, Ashley Sajous, starts the season with 6 tackles and 2 interceptions.


The team has two upcoming games on November 1st against Kendrick at 6:00 pm, and Spencer at 7:00 pm. The two games will be located at Spencer.
