High Time for a Field Trip: Seniors Visit High Museum of Art

Anika Sridhar

On January 11, the senior class took a field trip to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. The trip marks the senior class’s first field trip in three years.

“I was excited because it was the first field trip we have had outside Columbus and I wanted to explore different forms of art that I am not normally exposed to,” said Lizzie Owens (12).

The seniors visited the High Museum’s permanent collection and the traveling exhibitions Rodin in the United States: Confronting the Modern and Monir Farmanfarmaian: A Mirror Garden. After touring the museum, the seniors ate lunch at the Colony Square Food Court.

The Rodin Exhibit featured 70 artworks by French sculptor Auguste Rodin, including The Thinker and Monument to Balzac. The Monir Farmanfarmaian featured geometric mirror sculptures by Iranian artist Monir Farmanfarmaian.

Laiba Syed (12) said, “My favorite exhibit was the Monir Farmanfarmaian exhibit.”
