The Lady Blue Devils Volleyball Team honored their seniors at their final home game of the regular season this past Tuesday.
Grayson Dykes, Hannah Stubbs, Ashley Thompson, and Lauryn Whittlesey have played volleyball for CHS since their freshman year, growing both individually and as one single unit.
The four seniors have also grown close with their younger teammates.
“We’re very close with the underclassmen as well. It’s not just us four and then the underclassmen,” explains Stubbs.
Prior to their matches against the Shaw Raiders and Hardaway Hawks, the girls were recognized for their dedication these past four years. Each of them were escorted by their family onto the court where they received a gift, thanking them for their dedication to the team.
“I felt happy and excited that these people came out to celebrate us,” recounts Stubbs, “but I also felt kind of sad because I’m not going to see them next year.
Following the ceremony, though, the tears were wiped away. The team had a game to play. And they did not let any of the sentiment hinder their performance, defeating Hardaway 25-2 and Shaw in the third set.
The girls will host the Regional Championships this Thursday, playing in the Semifinals at 5:00 PM, with the winner moving on to the Championship Round at 7:00 PM.
