Lesya McGee is CHS’s newest French 1 and 2 teacher.
McGee is from Kyyv, Ukraine. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Teaching ESOL and French from a university in Ukraine, Kyyv Linguistics University. Not only did she teach in Ukraine, but she also worked for the Embassy of Kuwait in Ukraine as a personal secretary, interpreter, and translator.
McGee came to the US in 2000 and began her career in America by teaching ESOL and Russian at CSU. She also taught French at Northside High School, Carver High School, and Haynes Bridge Middle School.
McGee began to learn English in 5th grade and French while she was in college. McGee says she is “still learning English from my students and French every day while teaching.”
She enjoys teaching students and seeing them learn more and more.
“I love when they see the connection between what they are learning and their lives,” McGee exclaimed.
The faculty and staff have been a major help with her new transition into teaching French at CHS.
McGee was encouraged to come to CHS by Madame Trahan, the French 3 and 4 teacher.
Lesya McGee thinks CHS students are great and says “I love Columbus High School.”
