The CHS Blue Devil Family extends a warm welcome to the newest faculty member of our Science Department, Mr. Halford.
Mr. Halford currently teaches AP Environmental Science. He says one of the best parts of teaching at Columbus High is working with “incredibly bright students who are constantly trying to be their best.”
His greatest purpose as an educator is for his students to be able to learn, not just science, but also “to be able to go out and find whatever information they want to know.”
This is Mr. Halford’s sixth year of teaching. In the past, he has taught at Jordan Vocational High School and Blackmon Road Middle School. He has instructed a variety of science courses, such as physics and chemistry.
As a Columbus High alumnus himself, Mr. Halford returned to CHS for the opportunity to work in a positive environment filled with hardworking students.
Even in his first year back, Mr. Halford is already involved in our school community, serving as the co-coach of the Robotics Team alongside Mr. Bentley.
Outside the classroom, Mr. Halford enjoys reading, and playing board games, specifically chess, with friends.
Although he holds a degree in astrophysics, he chose a career in education because of his passion for helping students succeed.
“I love my job, and I get to go to work every single day, and that’s something not everyone gets to say,” he shared.
We are excited to welcome Mr. Halford to our Blue Devil family and look forward to all the great things he will bring to CHS.
